FIFA has made a decision: the KCM will be cancelled once every two years. The next tournament will only take place in 2029.
The International Football Federation has officially changed the format of the Club World Cup. The idea of holding an elite tournament every 24 months was deemed economically and sportingly unsustainable. The main reasons for this decision were the overwhelming workload on the calendar, the strong opposition from player unions, and the unwillingness of top leagues to sacrifice domestic competitions for commercial purposes. Now, the KCM will return to its traditional four-year cycle. The next tournament will be held in the summer of 2029. This decision significantly changes the landscape of world club football, giving priority to the Champions League and continental tournaments. Infanzione had to retreat under pressure from reality: the quality of matches and the health of players became more important than television contracts.
