Tehran vs. the Pride Parade: Iran demands that LGBT flags be removed from stadiums during the World Cup 2026

Iran demands that flags related to LGBT issues and those promoting women’s rights be removed from stadiums during the World Cup.

Diplomats and officials from Tehran have put forward strict conditions for FIFA to participate in the World Cup. These conditions were not abandoned even after the draw, where two Arab teams, Iran and Egypt, were selected to compete. Both countries opposed the Pride Parade, as there is even a death penalty in Iran for sodomy. Iranian officials insist that organizers must respect their religious and cultural values, and that only national flags should be allowed to be displayed at the stadiums.

According to insiders, Iranians also demand that banners with the words “Women, Life, Freedom” be banned. This movement is considered extremist in Russia, and its activities are prohibited.
