Torreira found himself in a romantic predicament: the footballer was beaten in a shopping center in Istanbul. Lucas Torreira, a midfielder for Galatasaray and the Uruguay national team, found himself caught up in a criminal incident in one of Istanbul’s shopping centers. As he was leaving a café, the Uruguayan defender was attacked by a local resident named Yusuf Yıldırım. Yıldırım had previously identified Torreira based on information from social media posts. The security guard quickly reacted, knocking the attacker to the ground. The attacker tried to escape, but he was quickly caught by the arriving police officers. During the interrogation, Yıldırım explained his motives: he wanted to teach the footballer a lesson, as he suspected Torreira had romantic feelings for his girlfriend. Ironically, the court had already issued a 45-day restraining order against Yıldırım, forbidding him from getting close to Torreira. Torreira was unfortunately caught up in a romantic conflict that could have turned much worse if the jealous man had had a knife at hand.
