Russians will once again compete under their flag and anthem. In which sports is this allowed?
International federations are gradually lifting the sanctions. By May 2026, Russian athletes will be officially allowed to compete with national symbols in five Olympic sports.
– Judo: allowed since November 2025.
– Taekwondo: from January 2026.
– Water sports: from May 2026, provided that anti-doping tests are completed.
– Wrestling: from May 2026.
– Gymnastics: restrictions were lifted on May 18, 2026.
Meanwhile, Russian sports continue to have full representation in disciplines like boxing, bodybuilding, MMA, sambo, kickboxing, and Muay Thai. It’s worth noting that in the X Games and several commercial events, MMA also isn’t subject to any restrictions.
